Senior Manager – Deloitte
Emily Cromwell is a Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Customs & Global Trade team. Emily joined Deloitte from a publically traded American company, where she established and administered the global Export and Anti-bribery compliance programs as the Global Export & Anti-Bribery Compliance Officer. In that position Emily was responsible for all elements of the global compliance program from policy development and implementation to investigations and training.
Emily specializes in supporting clients in managing global export control regimes. She has extensive experience in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the EAR, in addition to export control regimes in countries such as the UK, Singapore, Poland and Germany. As a specialist in global export controls, her practice includes developing and implementing global internal compliance programmes to mange complex, multi-jurisdictional export control requirements, conducting export control audits and assessments, including audits mandated by governments under Consent or Settlment Agreements, and supporting clients with export control concerns and requirements around Mergers and Acquisitions.
Emily has deep experience related to export controls affecting the satellite, aerospace and defense industries. Through experience in these industries she has delt extensively with authorities in the U.S. in relation to export jurisdiction determinations, licensing requests and policy developments. She has been involved in lobbying activities in the U.S. related to the current Export Control Reform effort, and currently serves as the co-chair of the Export Control Reform sub-committee for an American technology industry association. She speaks frequently at export conferences and seminars in the U.S. and Europe.
Emily earned a B.A. degree with Honors in Humane Letters from the University of Oklahoma and a Juris Doctor from the College of William and Mary. She speaks frequently at industry events in Europe and the U.S.
