Jalal Rohollahnejad, an Iranian engineer, attempted to purchase microwave and anti-drone systems from several US firms between 2016 and 2018. Currently the US court documents related to this case have not been released so the only information available has come from France in relation to Rohollahnejad’s extradition.

He was procuring the items for Rayan Roshd Afszar, an entity connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Rohollahnejad hid the Iranian end-user and ultimate destination for these items by using a false Chinese name and naming the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the ultimate destination of the items. Payments related to the transaction totaled about $1 million and involved several transfers through a number of shell companies.

Rohollahnejad extradition from France is set to proceed, although he still has an option to make one final appeal of the decision to the Court of Cassation in Paris.
