Get things done in China without breaking US export control rules.
You probably know that the United States imports more goods from China than from any other country. What you may not realize is that China is the number three destination for US exports. This year US exports to China will top $100B, nearly double the figure from just five years ago. And, contrary to common belief, those containers heading west across the Pacific are not filled with only scrap metal and soybeans. Aircraft, chemicals, electronics and machinery are some of the top exports...and are all areas of potential export control concern.
But when it comes to export controls, China presents a very different risk profile from the other top US export destinations like Canada, Japan and Germany which, unlike China, are long-standing US allies and members of all the key multilateral export control regimes. Not only do more items require a license for export to China than to most other countries, US export enforcement authorities are keenly focused on China. In other words, you are more likely to need a license to do business with China and you are more likely to get caught if you proceed in violation of the rules.
Even if your business does not export finished products to China, that does not necessarily mean you can relax. What about those drawings your purchasing department sends to Chinese suppliers? The parts you export there for assembly? The technology transfers required for your new joint venture? Those Chinese nationals just hired as design engineers?
Join us for this webinar and participate as we discuss these and other questions:
What kinds of items require a license for export to China?
Which license exceptions can help?
How does the China military end-use rule impact me?
How do I vet Chinese customers and other business partners?
What does the ITAR allow me to do in China?
What should I consider when procuring items from Chinese companies?
What are the top deemed export concerns in employing Chinese nationals?
What can I learn from the government's efforts to enforcement actions with China?
